Fishing Report
direct from the Houseboats
Winter is here and the water
has cooled down a little, combined with the recent large tides we have seen
sand crabs being caught in good numbers around edges of channels in the Pimpama river the never fails,Tiger Mullet channel,
Crusoe Island, Bedrooms, Tipplers Passage and Short Island are all worth a try,
whole mullet is the best crab pot bait.
The Fishing has been
good, most of the houseboats reporting catches of Flathead, and good
numbers of
Whiting, Bream and Chopper Tailor. Some good spots to try
are the Pimpama River, Wavebreak Island, Brown Island, Never Fails,
Tiger Mullet Channel, The North Bedrooms and Cobby Passage.
For the surf beach
fisherman the larger greenback Tailor have been caught mainly around
dusk in beach gutters along South Stradbroke island with an average size
of 1.5 to 2kg with larger fish also being caught, whole WA pilcahrds are
the best bait. Also dart are being caught on pippies which can be
gathered fresh from the beach
